SADOCRAWL

BRUTALITY" - VM

Demo Review

For you black metal/death fans!  This demo really opened my eyes to the techniques and blistering sounds of SadoCrawl!  As I sit back and listen to the beuty of fast driving guitar riffs, blast beats and gut wrenching screams!  I couldn't help to get sucked in!  For fans of Emperor, Cradle of Filth, One Man's Child and others this is a demo worth checking out!

The songs are very well laid out with harmony, speed and emotion.  VERY true to the black metal sound!  Only downfall of this demo is some recording production, guitars very low in the mix and vocals to loud. But this is a demo worth shopping!

I had the pleasure to get behind the scenes and find out what makes this unit tic!!

AND IT BEGINS!!

VMU: Hey how are you?

SC: I'm great a little cold here.

VMU: Could you tell us where your from and who's the current line up?

SC: Well I'm from San Diego,CA but I just moved to Skykomish ,WA. As far as the line up for Sadocrawl I'm it untill I find new members to fill the voids.

VMU: How many releases have you put out and who and where were they produced?

SC: I only have the one demo and anyone can here it on the website at www.sadocrawl.dergoetz.com The production was done Gutz(Gutrot and Artifact) in his practice studio he has some fucked German name it's hard to pronounce or spell.

VMU: Very dark sound! How did the project come together?

SC: Well lets see I started this about ten years ago by writing a couple of the songs with Chris Morgan on keys and it was just us for a few years then we kind of had a falling out and I rewrote all the songs with out keys and moved on by myself at that time the project was called "Crimsonwinter". Then I hooked up with another old friend Lorenzo Kemp (Ninthlevel and Man Destroys Himself) and he was doing the drums on a keyboard with his fingers for a while. We then hooked up with Gutz and lorenzo behind the drums Gutz on bass and me on guitar and vokills. That lasted for about four month before Gutz and Lorenzo had a disagreement (I won't go into details) and well the band was toast. So about a year went by and I got tired of festering on these songs. So I went to my good friend Ben Ritchardson (Ninthlevel) who helped me programming the drums and burning them to disk. I then took that disk to the Gutrot practice where Gutz and I recorded for about two days give or take, but this process went by remarkablely fast I though for sure it was going to be a week at least. Well I blew through the guitar and bass parts like shit though a cow. Then I did the main vokills and Gutz and I did backing vokills. The production came out better than I ever expected. I could not be happier with sound that Gutz gave me, it truely blew my mind. I cut fifthy copies and could cut more if I need to.

VMU: Could you tell us what gear you use live and in studio? (in detail)

SC: Well I'm in the process of rebuilding my live gear but's gonna be Marshall 9006 rack mount power amp and Marshall 9005 preamp with a Boss HM2 Heavy Metal Pedal and Boss Eq Pedal and BC rich Warlock with an emg 85 pickup. In the studio I ued a VTH some thing not sure exactly what it was, just know it sounded great.

VMU: Who are your musical influences?

SC: Dissection,Marduk,Darkfuneral,Burzum,Mayhem,Entombed,Dismember, Immortal,Nagelfar,to name a few

VMU: How do you feel about mainstream music here in the USA and Over Seas?

SC: Actually I don't pay too much attention to main steam music, I like listen to Systems of a Down every now and then and The Offspring a little but that's pretty much it.

VMU: Were your recordings done digital or analog? (if computer what programs)

SC: We recorded everything on protools or a cakewalk bassed version. I think Gutz uses Sonar but not exactly sure.

VMU: (optional) What is your comment about the presidetial election for 2004?

SC: I could care less, I'm just glad that all the bullshit is over for another four years

VMU: What do you express in your lyrics?

SC: Murder, torture, serial kilings that sort of thing.

VMU: How do you feel about other bands expressing their beliefs in music? (religious or political)

SC: I don't care either way as long as it don't suck, People who are judgemental about that sort of thing are closed minded in my opinion.

VMU: What are in the works now?

SC: Just writing new songs and looking for new members to spread the seed of murder.

VMU: Thanks so much for your time! Any last words?!

SC: Uh.......Just to thank VMU for giving me this opportunity to spread the seed of SADOCRAWL like the fucking PLAEGE! \m/
